Seriously it’s often the tiniest little thing, like the margins are 2mm too small or a spreadsheet was filled in a certain method. I’ve had convos with teachers where I ask them “hey do you mind if I do it slightly differently”, they go “OK”, and then 10 minutes later a manager comes and asks me to do it the original way. Like fine, but why the fuck didn’t the original teacher just ask me. I’m the most gentle and flexible person I know, I literally haven’t had an loud argument at work since I before 2000. I’m not gonna have it out over this issue with you.

How the fuck is telling the manager not considered snitching with some people?

The corporate office environment is a hive of sociopathy, it’s western socialization dialed up to 11.

Literally everyone smiling through their teeth ready to back stab you to rob you of your livelihood at the most opportune moment.

Imagine when you’re the only person with melanin, or non gender conforming. These demons will literally time your 30 second bathroom break just to rat on you. Truly hell.

Easy, by making you into the “problem child”, they build themselves up for pay raise/promotion/more protection for being fired. Its ruthless there and they dont have any sense of comradery. You take the high road and end up falling into the chasm, because the others have been busy digging the dirt beneath your feet. Its the nexus of bourgeois culture, which will be abolished under any socialist system.

Immediate escalation like that is snitching as far as I’m concerned.

If the teacher had tried reaching out to you multiple times with no response or a negative experience I could see escalation as the right route, but managers shouldn’t be used as the primary line of communication like this.

If you’re new, it’s an easy way for them to put themselves above you and feel more valuable to management. I’ve seen it at every job I’ve worked.

Classic shithead tactic in every day life as well. Put others down based on physical attributes to give the idea that something about their own features is superior

Yeah I’ve run into this at my work as well. I receive feedback circuitously through my boss. Like, I’m extremely approachable and likeable and easy to talk to. If I’m doing something you don’t like, just tell me! It’s not only faster, but easy and I’m also a pushover so I’ll say yes!

You guys need to understand that your coworkers telling your manager instead of you directly is a form of competition

They’re letting your manager know you’re doing something wrong, and that they were the one to catch it and are signalling that they too are also management material

Yes obviously, but it’s so tiring. There’s not even that kind of opportunity for progression at my work.

In fact, I would argue that in many places, dealing with issues on your own and directly rather than bothering your boss at every little thing is actually a better route to promotion as it shows responsibility and initiative and the ability to actually do the manager’s job rather than just snitch.

Exactly. They are playing the long game to get you overlooked for a promotion/higher on the firing list. Its best to gaslight and establish their discredibility early. Start with small remarks.

"Oh hey, does anyone else have concerns or questions about x project or know who is handling this (even though i have thoughts not questions and know exactly who this is)? I have this absolutely conniving and needling curiosity to make whoever’s life this is miserable, in the most passive aggressive way imaginable. Anyhow, a heap of professionalese and deliberate microaggressions to sign off.

Kind regards, the person who makes their job their whole damn identity

P.S. Please understand that this war of attrition I am staging will cause an outburst from my target, and that I will be clearly in the right by maintaining professional composure when my hostile assault elicits a tantrum response from said target making them seem paranoid and in need of personal reflection."
