Friedrich Merz revealed he had invited Benjamin Netanyahu to visit and would find a way for Netanyahu to visit Germany without being arrested.

Ah great. Day 1, top priority: fawn over the guy who is leading a genocide. The right never miss an opportunity to do the most evil thing.

I don’t understand how this level of depraved evil became so normal in our society. What happened to literally any ambition to evolve?

I still say there is nothing wrong with capitalism. Decide what service and/or goods you want to sell, start a business, calculate costs, sell your products, make a profit or hopefully at least break even.

It’s like most anything else, too much of a good thing becomes bad and too much capatilism is mega corporations that care more about profits than customers.

The mom and pop taco truck is capatilism. But so is Tesla.

You described markets, not capitalism. You can have markets without capitalism such as worker co-ops or publicly owned companies. Both of which are examples of market socialism

Oh my God, you can’t go against the commy fucks on Feddit. All business is bad and anyone financially successful in business should prop up the rest of the world like a good comrade should.

The mom and pop taco truck is commerce. A factory full of industrial equipment and underpaid laborers being exploited to divert the largest share of profits to those who do no work is capitalism. The mom and pop taco truck is closer to a cooperatively owned business and thus is closer to socialism.

I think you need to spend some time learning what “capitalism” is. That’s not even close to accurate.

            “there’s nothing wrong with capitalism”

            You sure about that?

Also you’re describing commerce, which can exist in non-capitalist systems.

Evolution doesn’t trend toward good it or bad, only what survives. It’s up to us to make sure only the good mutations survive.

Don’t look to Germany for that. Our history hinders us from having a clear view on what’s happening with Israel and Palestine. It’s sort of understandable I guess but still incredibly sad.

He is not leading anything at the moment. His party won the most votes, but is far from having 50% + 1 seat. Merz depends on forming a coalition, and he basically alienated everyone.

I’m living in Germany. At the moment, the country is seeking stability after the FDP crashed the government, so a coalition with SPD seems to be very realistic. The far right party on rank 2 is hated by everyone and other coalitions required 3 parties…

Yeah the only option would be if SPD declares that they won’t do a coalition if Merz becomes chancellor. But 1) that would require SPD to have some guts, which they don’t have and 2) in that case the CDU would likely go for a minority government and work with AfD to push their cruel proposals.

So yeah, lile you say, realistically the GroKo is pretty much guaranteed.

Interesting. I hadn’t seen that. But if you feel you misinterpreted it, does that mean the grand coalition is the most likely outcome?

What coalition would you rather see? It would take a lot of parties to do one without SPD or AfD.

A minority government of Red-Green-Red (SPD, Grüne, Linke) would force the conservatives to either work productively with the other democratic parties or side with the fascists of the AFD. It would basically boil down to whether or not Merz will do again what he promised he wouldn’t do (working with the AFD). Should he do that, I very much expect the CDU to “decapitate” itself by splitting from left to right: The MAGA people around Merz, Linnemann, Spahn and Dobrindt get ousted by the traditional conservatives.

He’s probably strategising on stirring a wave of counter-protests to galvanise the right against some perceived antisemitism in the left, thing is, he’s a shit strategist.
