The investment in demonizing scapegoat groups does seem to pay off for the far right. That’s a good point. Even by asking the question I’m entering the debate on the bigots’ terms. Even if there are a few examples, the whole issue of who goes in which toilet and who polices it is just the thing the bigots have happened to land on. If it wasn’t this, they’d find some other way to persecute the people they hate. I really don’t understand how JK Rowling can carry on like this and not feel that she’s wasting her life.

Is there any evidence of men actually pretending to be trans women so as to harass women the toilets? Or of trans woman harassing other women in the toilets? Or is this all a dream in the feverish imagination of the TERFs, who then proceed to harass trans women and cis women alike for not looking how they think a woman should look?

They’re not even panicking about penises. They are just looking for ways to persecute trans people out of hatred and bigotry, and they’ll use whatever made-up reasoning allows them to keep doing it.
