I like that fishing is it’s own minigame with qte inputs, beats old school Everquest where you just fished and went afk. But the skill up gain rate is crushing and you can only fish so much in 24 hours.
There was no limit in the past I think, maybe they rewarded you for zoning (which bots could easily solve) but honestly it’s hard to remember, and like a lot of early ffxi system it was very nebulous. Everquest was just a stupid slog because the devs only cared about translating DnD, which was fun in it’s own ways lol
Fond memories of fish botting, and then learning c# to work on my own automation stuff when someone started to release an api that exposed ffxi memory
