I don’t really think that’s the issue. “Things are still shitty in Yemen” peaks as much of an interest in the western market as the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea, or the effects of the civil war of South Sudan.

There’s only so much that people can care about at once, and the three that people in the west seem to care most about are Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Palestine, and China (just in general) because there is some name recognition.

Ukraine is right around the corner, of course I’m concerned about that. It’s not like I couldn’t remember how things were back in the cold war. Some things have a bigger impact and I’ll need to prioritize what to give my ducks for.

That doesn’t mean this isn’t horrible.

Also, us here in the US have enough to worry about within our own country, considering the current state of things.

There’s only so much people can care about at the same time?

That’s a cute way of saying you don’t care about Sudan where ten million kids are starving because the Jews aren’t involved. 50,000 Arabs being killed didn’t even raise an eyebrow in Syria, but there were calls of genocide before Israel dropped it’s first bomb. Freaking ridiculous.

Yes, and newspapers, websites, and broadcasts have time/space constraints on what they are able to promote.

They also, for the most part, need to show engagement metrics for advertisers in order to exist; this is often due to prior connections or events, novelty, or severity. This causes a loop where stories gain more and more of the attention because the company knows that they will get clicks/comments/shares. This is until of course this set of stories start to feel a little stale and something new comes along to replace it.
It doesn’t really matter if this about Isreal or not, things being shitty somewhere that people know is shitty doesn’t break into the top stories.

The root cause of both of those is Islamism

Considering that this is a Gay news community, I would assume that most people here would agree that the cause of a lot of hatred, violence, and warfare is religion; whichever flavour you choose.

You’re kidding right? You’re trying to act like there’s a limit on what can be published? C’mon man, blood sells and so does Jew hate. Combine the two and you’ve got queers for fucking Palestine LMFAO. When the Jews aren’t involved, ain’t no one protesting the hanging of queers across the Muslim world and people are completely ignoring the millions of Arabs on the verge of death in much more extreme circumstances than Gaza.

Honestly, a lot of Ally’s have outed themselves these past few months. I’m grateful for it as much as I’m saddened by it.
