denied was implied by comparing musk’s salute to that of the pope waving his arm - but fair, she didn’t outright say it

still the timing is most definitely not coincidental - but I can see how that can seem that way if you didn’t browse xitter when it happened

her tweet was made a day after musk’s salute and consequent “funny” nazi puns - alongside posts denying the salute as sincere, therefore enabling nazi normalization

the issue isn’t if JK is a swastika waving nazi - she most likely isn’t - the issue is she’s siding with fascists because they share the same hateful rhetoric and is willing to defend and normalize their behavior because she sees them as allies and the “woke leftists” as the enemy.

we couldn’t agree on an illustrator. He wanted Eva Braun, but the sample sketches he showed me were shit.

If he wanted Eva Braun to be the illustrator why would he show JK his own sketches and not hers? Why even mention Eva at that point?

Idk but imma head out as I don’t have the energy to dissect a poorly written attempt at a joke by a known nazi apologist…

I mean Eva Braun was a photographer so not sure why her sketches would have been good? But I guess she was trying to shoehorn hitler being a bad artist but just didn’t know how to tie it in?

Call be old-fashioned but I prefer my jokes to be funny because they’re clever not because “haha hitler couldn’t draw amirite”

Calling it simplified does a disservice of the real world impacts of the “trolley” - especially since unlike a thought experiment - this trolley problem is physically constructed by people to achieve imperialistic goals - so expending energy blaming random lemmings for this - instead of figuring out who built, maintains and presents the trolley as the only option and how to dismantle it seems useless.

I believe we should avoid infighting and actually organize to do something so we don’t have to choose if we pull the lever or not every 4 years (if there even is another election…)

  • As noted above - Norway gets most of it’s renewable energy from it’s geographic location (88% of power coming from hydro) so them being “a few hundred miles south” would mean extreme heats and droughts that are really difficult to deal with even with perfect renewables - all the sun in the world can’t give you free water (yes there’s desalination but hypersaline brine is such a PIA that it’s not a silver bullet) - so while it’s commendable that they’ve gone “fully green” - until they stop making bank on their massive scope 3 fossil fuel emissions - it’s a bit of a misdirection to say they’re helping the global environment.

Now if they truly believed that fossil fuels were needed for a sustainable transition - then surely they would give out their trillions of oil and gas revenue to countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh to help them rebuild from the environmental disasters they’re experiencing to deploy more sustainable infrastructure and housing.

  • I’m not arguing that anti-immigrant division isn’t fueled by the ruling elite to cause class infighting - it is.

I’m arguing that infighting is nonetheless antithetical to class solidarity. Saying nobody listens to working class people about migrants inherently excludes working class migrants. Pretty much nobody is fully native to where they live - everyone has migrated at some point or another.

If you care about class consciousness - then I’d recommend you don’t try and divide us further by claiming Muslims are “diluting the culture” because some (even if currently most) are not tolerant of LGBTQ+ people as if that’s an inherent thing to people practicing Islam - it takes time for people to become more accepting - as if gay people in the UK were accepted by the majority of western Christians 20-30 years ago (and even now trans people are still being demonized) - that’s less than one generation for people living in relatively stable material conditions - just give people time and be nice.

Also, immigration will become more and more common in the coming years whether you like it or not - be it due to aging populations, labour exploitation (from western oligarchs), war (in large part bolstered by the global north’s war machine), climate change (again disproportionately caused by “developed” nations like Germany and the UK) - so crying about how you have a “preference that conservative lslam be prejudiced against at the point of immigration.” - is not just xenophobic but fundamentally unjust - you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

It’s okay to have concerns about religious groups’ acceptance of other people - but the only way to resolve that is by working with them and showcasing how we’re not all that different.

And look you may not identify as racist - but the phrasing you use is indistinguishable from racist rhetoric - and I hope you aren’t offended by being called out for racists remarks - as pretty much everyone has at some point been and said racist things - the point is to recognize it and actively engage in anti-racism whenever that happens.

Saying that people will adopt far-right views when called out for being racist were most likely already sympathetic to those views in the first place. We shouldn’t coddle racist viewpoints out of fear they’ll become more racist.

Integration challenges can be discussed without resorting to racism or xenophobia. Not by using prejudice and exclusion but through understanding and inclusion.

If you don’t know where to start - go to pro-Palestine marches and meet and talk to Muslim people - I can guarantee you’ll see we’re all in this shit together and we’re all just trying to survive.
