  • I do not research specific candidates because I am not a member of a party or vote in the primaries (which requires registering for the party). I do keep an eye out in the news in case the Republicans are trying to put some misleading state constitution amendment or other shenannigans on the ballot.

My state doesn’t do the voter roll purges so I don’t bother checking that, but will if they start.

I check to see when the early in person voting opens and go as soon as I am able. If that isn’t possible due to scheduling, my voting location is only a few minutes away and there has never been a line. Either way I vote against every Republican candidate because the whole party is corrupt and I don’t really need to know exactly how terrible each one is.

Then I go home and hope the rest of the country is smarter than my state as the best possible outcome seems to be a moderate Dem governor and a slight chance at a national level Dem Representative as the Republican party has a stranglehold on pretty much everything else at the state level.

  • Last place I worked at that actually banned customers was at a pizza place in a college town that did a lot of late night deliveries back when restaurants delivered their own food.

Bounced checks, being rude to employees, not being there when the delivery driver arrived were the biggest ones. After hitting a critical mass on fraternities we started banning the whole fraternity if we ran into issues and they sorted that out fast by getting their members to behave better and other people would volunteer to buy the pizza if the person fell asleep or couldn’t be found. Pretty much everyone who screwed up was given another chance by paying off their balance and the bounced check fee or apologizing to staff.

There was also one guy who never tipped and kept calling and saying is pizza was wrong so the owner made his pizza one night and delivered it himself, then banned the guy when he called and lied about the delivery. He was banned for life along with the people who were racist/sexist. The owner was a jerk when it came to his ridiculous capitalist expectations, but he did defend his employees from external assholes.

  • He’s genuinely himself. Even if he contradicts himself I think it all comes from his own head and he’s not taking the standard approach of rehearsing speeches ad nauseum and censoring himself because of what some focus group said.

That is stupid when the person being themselves is a piece of shit. Do you think Hitler being his genuine self is a positive?

He did come out in support of banning bump stocks.

He was also in favor of gun proliferation and he contradicted his opposition to bump stocks because his genuine self is trying to play both sides.

Despite personal views on COVID he did generally support the emergency actions necessary in a pandemic scenario.

He also constantly undermined them by saying covid was a hoax and telling people they didn’t need to wear masks or be vaccinated.

Your three things are all stupid and you are praising him for being a terrible person.

I’m the reverse, if someone has a unique name that is either interesting because it is from another language or culture I have like a 50/50 chance of remembering it depending on length but all the Johns are gonna be ‘hey you’ in about 30 seconds unless they are wearing a name tag.

Also, none of the memory tricks that are supposed to help remember names work for me and I tried for a couple decades. Associating with something else means now I have two things that I forgot, and repeating their name at them will just turn into a pile of mush in my brain. I just need to interact with them long enough for it to eventually stick, can’t force it.
