If you’re looking for original ideas… I have bad news for you
I think that you’re missing the point of his message
Yes that’s exactly how I’ve been playing these days. I have a little daughter and I have little time to play late in the evening or in the early morning after not sleeping that much.
The problem is that it’s like gambling… You lose some points and you just tell yourself “one more game just to get those points back”… and bam! 6 more are gone :D
True, points shouldn’t be that important but still… One gets attached to them! :D
From the photo it looks like they’re taking the news pretty well
I thought everything was on the clouds, not on servers
Yes and yes.
Personally I always found systemd amazing, it brought logic and order in the init world.
Finally some consistent API and predictable behavior.
From what I read, with low temperature and lack of oxygen they probably fell asleep before ending up dead suffocated
I assume that they had quite some time to discuss the topic since Sunday, unfortunately.
Does anybody use Peertube here? How is it? Good content? Accessible from mobile?
Will actually Toyota had the best tech for many years did hybrid cars employing batteries and electrical engines.
I’m not so sure that they’re behind in terms of know how for EV, quite the opposite actually.
because it is one of the most promoted, for example. Either that one or lemmy.ml. Currently most people don’t even know what an instance is and just look for a main Lemmy page where to register.
Sure, they might migrate, still the problem could easily happen again.

With 12k users the server had to be upgraded, imagine if it was 1 million. Somebody has to pay those bills and it’s yet to see how it will work with donations. So I think that this is the main challenge, not impossible at all to tackle (see Lichess or Wikipedia who live out of donations) but it’s definitely interesting to see how it will work.
I think it will take time to smooth few rough edges but already now it’s usable.
However I have big concerns on how this structure can scale, it already suffers with few thousands users. Plus security, privacy and sustainability of the fediverse is still a big question mark to me.
But it’s exciting and I hope it will be the future of socials.
I guess it’s marketing and smoke on the eyes, unfortunately.
It could be that sources are actually available somewhere but I couldn’t find them either.
I hope that lemmy makes it but I don’t think that it will be easy because:
Note that Lichess has an amazing openings explorer, a funny and interactive learning section and a cool studies section.
They also organized a lot of videos for learning by topic.
Surely it feels less premium than chess.com, but that could’ve been said about Wikipedia vs Britannica.
Lichess for me is awesome and truly promotes chess for everybody.
Lichess, definitely.
From a technology point of view it’s superb and they have their users and chess as top priority.
What? There’s already 26?!
