  • I used to think it was better than reddit, but I hate to say it, I’ve started to notice facebook meme communities jump onboard. Science memes is amazing and isn’t affected (it seems to be all unique posts I’d never seen), but once those facebook repost meme communities jump onboard, you’re going to end up with all the people that makes facebook rubbish too unfortunately.

I’ve already seen an increase in dumb car meme posts which get reposted 3000x on Facebook (which brings along the same toxic anti-science people). We’re already seeing an increase in people who don’t seem to have much common sense

I want a community which is science and fact oriented, and I’m growing increasingly concerned that as we grow, we’re moving away from that.

But for now, its still awesome in comparison imho (last I looked, many reddit communities were overrun by nutjobs after the mods all left)

Theres a few people who are arguing in bad faith whose sole intention is to stop people voting to boost the right wing.

If you check a lot of them, they’re right wingers pretending temporarily to be left wing

I guarantee they’re the same ones causing issues everywhere with everything from environmental policies to helping the lower class

And let’s be blunt, they ignore absolutely everything except Israel because it’s the only argument they have left.

And it’s such a stupid hill to die on and to stop voting.

Because one candidate is causing a civil war, is a criminal, a rapist and is incredibly dangerous. He talks like a mob boss knowing the implications of his actions. One of them is stripping rights

Trump is advocating for Nazism within the US, and you have to understand it’s a huge issue that is having world wide implications. His own people know he’s dangerous.

That’s why he’s being ignored. They’re often not centrist. They are simply a single issue voter who often lean towards the right wing actually (but don’t want to say it)

  • That’s not what happened at all imho.

What killed digg realistically is that it had less control than Reddit and because Kevin Rose blocked posts about the DVD encryption codes and people over reacted to that block. For days digg was full of people simply reposting them (as Digg was worried about getting sued which was fair enough)

Didn’t really have anything to do with politics.

Don’t forget, this was back in the day of fat people hate and Reddit hosting child porn. Reddit administration was never great

Digg admins were actually ok and I never had an issue with them
