Still working toward his EGOT, I hope!

I uploaded this one to Lemmy (instead of my usual use of Catbox), and have no complaints with its integrity after uploading. It looks just as good/bad here as the raw file did before uploading, and has basically the same file size.

The MP4 I exported was only 200 KB with much higher resolution/quality. I had to compress the WEBP immensely to get it down to 260 KB, just because I wanted it to loop automatically.

I am wondering if there might be a better way to export/convert the file before uploading, or if WEBP is just not as magical in its compressibility as I had thought.

Any tips on creating looping animated WEBP images with a modest file size? This one is 260 KB at 300x300 with awful quality. The best technique I could come up with was exporting a video from KDENLIVE as an MP4 and then using FFMPEG to convert to WEBP like so:

ffmpeg -i fire.mp4 -vcodec libwebp -filter:v fps=10 -lossless 0 -loop 0 -preset default -an -vsync 0 -s 300:300 -quality 10 fire.webp

The Fossify suite (like the gallery app that was linked to in the OP) was forked from this. Simple Mobile had been bought out by an ad company or something last year, so the community moved onto Fossify. Note how Simple Gallery has not been updated in over a year, and was removed from F-Droid.

Looks like this came from a non-Lemmy ActivityPub platform. I think this user made a “note” that is just mentioning this Lemmy community. And when that Federated over here to Lemmy, it didn’t work properly. Kind of like how Mastodon posts often look weird on Lemmy.

After I had realized my mistake and deleted the post, I considered that I could have just changed the title or something to make it somewhat relevant. In S1E15, the “What is the world’s only egg-laying mammal?” Trivial Pursuit card was WRONG. According to that Wikipedia article, both the platypus and echidna lay eggs!

But now I am realizing that what actually happened was probably:

1. Liz got the two confused
2. Fred corrected her
3. Liz took mental note of the correction so she does not repeat the mistake
4. Next time she saw Fred, she genuinely thought this was not the same guy she had the interaction with earlier. She instinctively wanted to call him Fred, but made the conscious decision to call him Rick
