Just a shout to a great app. I have used this on my latest trip and want to try again on my next one.
I feel happy for the devs and tfor the app, I like the progress they have made, but… How exactly is an app like Itinerary used? Is it like a google maps alternative?
I’ll add my experience to it as well.
I recently used it for a trip. I put into it my flights, hotels, checking/out times, reservations, and any other pertinant travel data. It gave me one single place to find a rather large amount of data.
It also helped me keep my timelines straight as I was booking things to make sure I didn’t have any overlap.
That sounds cool!
Not really, no. I’ll give you an example of how I use it: I have it manage all my travelling stuff/documents. So when you get your boarding pass for your flight, you scan in the barcode (or Itinerary just picks it up from the email as it is integrated with Kontact). Same goes for train tickets, hotel reservations, health certificates (remember COVID vaccination certificates?), etc.
Instead of having a dozen different apps, when you get on trains, reach the airport, or need your health certificate scanned, you pull up Itinerary on your phone. You can group all your docs into one trip and Itinerary will have generated standardised QR codes for all the services. It will also show you plans of airports, stations etc… Tell You which lifts are working, what eateries are open, and where the toilets are.
There are new features being added all the time, as well as more travel companies. It is very practical.
Oh oh ai get it, I guess the problem is I am not familiar with airplane or train traveling, but the COVID example made sense to me, thank you!
A French example : when I get train tickets from work, I can’t load them on the SCNF mobile app, because they removed the possibility to import tickets not directly sold from them through their interface… 😶
KDE Itinerary being agnostic to all those shenanigans, it’s the only mobile app I know able to store such a variety of tickets, ready for me to use them when I travel, without having to print them.
Ok, thanks. So i’m guessing those tickets aren’t in a format like PDF or similar
Yes. The only thing I receive for professional travel is an email with a PDF. KDE Itinerary is able to read those PDF from K9 on my phone and import the tickets. Very handy in this case!
Thank you. You reply made me find KDE’s F-Droid repo.
As a person whose city has only buses with money payment is hard for me to understand, but I will research into what you are saying, thanks
