A continuation of 0G post https://lemmy.ca/post/26211900
On any of the donation threads where it came up and he replied to it, the most he ever did was some half hearted corporate PR “apology” (ironic)
I hope Beaver is happy and well.
I don’t think we should constantly serve warmed up drama from 9 months ago. I don’t want to invalidate this… But on the flipside they haven’t started any new drama concerning this for the better part of a year now (or at least I didn’t hear the outcry) and it’s been a strange conversation anyway. Idk. Sometimes people are wrong or say really stupid things. And it’s the right thing to point at them and complain loudly. But it’s better to do it right away, and keep an eye on things. Less so to constantly warm up drama and have a toxic atmosphere.
The context of the post is 2 days ago, in a post about Lemmy dev being in need of donations.
Many people have expressed their lack of interest in supporting the devs, due to transphobia and other issues.
So its not so much drama from 9 months ago (reference/link text of post) as it is the continuation as seen in a post 2 days ago (image shown in this post).
Ah, thanks for enlightening me. That makes more sense. I mean I still think what I said holds true in general… But maybe have a look at all the other nice Fediverse projects. We have several of them, some with really nice devs and maintainers. People might want to support them.
Yup, also mentioned in those threads (pretty much all of them I’ve seen that aren’t on .ml).
Piefed being the most often mentioned.
PieFed is amazing. I’m a bit biased ofc, being a PieHead (or whatever we are, I’m it!:-)
Are there any iOS piefed apps yet? That is the hold back for me moving. Hopefully some of the existing ones will be able to support it.
Interstellar is the only app I am aware of that currently offers official support - isn’t that available on iOS?
There is also a fork of Thunder being tested, though afaik not officially released yet, as in available to download from the App Store.
After that, I would think that any open source app should quickly gain support for it.
It looks like interstellar is only now looking at the possibility of iOS support.
You are literally right though, piefed is great. The only thing from stopping me from using is is that I’m too used to lemmy’s ui.
They both offer advantages that the other does not. The funny thing is that for PieFed, the advantages tend to be “features not available on Lemmy”, while for Lemmy it’s “having to change away from what I was already used to”, which is going to forcibly be changed out from under you regardless, the next time a major UI update occurs and your instance upgrades to it.
I almost want to dare you to just make a PieFed account and play with it for an hour… except you might be better to wait, given the high likelihood that you’ll be strongly tempted to switch:-).
In truth, I fall back to my Discuss.Online account often, in order to use the search function, which on PieFed is pretty lackluster. Then again, the rest of the 99.9% of the time I use my PieFed main, so there’s that:-).
I have a piefed account, Its mainly just the muscle memory of going to lemm.ee, and the different ui that are stopping me from using it.
In the end, the only one who can validate or invalidate an apology is the recipient, the victim. Or victims if there’s more than one. This is how it would be in any situation, especially since there are no “objective enhancing traits” in an apology.
In some cultures, this would be the way to do it.
When right wingers go to an actually leftist space
It’s all transphobia?
Always has been
Yes, famously right wing Lemmy dev team.
