Hi, I’m audhd as well. What do the levels mean? I had an informal diagnosis done by my therapist but I didn’t get a level, I was just “high functioning”.
the levels in the autism spectrum indicate the amount of support needed by an autistic person. High functioning autism is basically level 1 so low supports needs, level 2 is substantial supports need and 3 is high supports need. Labels like Aspergers or high-functioning are clinically irrelevant today, as in the DSM-5 all the different types of autism were joined into one single diagnosis, and that is autism spectrum disorder, hence the levels
Probably similar, there are multiple terms that keep getting changed because they are offensive to someone or another… High functioning, low support needs, and presumably level 1 are the same thing. Note: haven’t fact checked, for all I know level 1 could be high support needs.
In my experience they are used as a tool for discrimination
