I’ll never get over white people’s enthusiasm to imagine untold cruelty committed upon themselves. The question is, are they only comfortable with this shit since they know it’s just not going to happen, or would they rather it be true, as long as they’re not the victims and it gives them an excuse to be fascists openly?
They love it because when the self-victimization and role reversal reaches a critical level of pressure, it ruptures out as the “righteous” violence of people who have decided they are the heroic resistance, the only real people. Everything they ever accused anyone of, every crime ever made up to smear the victims of capital, from the indigenous to the Haitians to the Communists to the Palestinians, they will carry them all out while giggling. They will march around with a head on a pole, they will make art from people’s skin, they will massacre demonstrators in a square and they will behead 40 babies. And they’ll do it all fueled by the illogical indignation of the narcissist and the built-up impotent fury of the self-flagellant. In the middle of the act they’ll look down and say "I can’t believe the racidal left is making me behead this baby."This is them powering up. The part where they cry “Look! Look! They’re planning to do it to us, we’ve got to do it to them first!”
The usual “every accusation a confession.” Their fantasy is that it’s like this, but in reality, it’s basically flipped. The western empire says [whoever they’re currently vilifying] does atrocities and [whoever they’re currently allied with or have as a proxy] can do no wrong. Meanwhile, communists understand the concept of self-criticism and critical support, and even some anti-imperialists who are not explicitly communist have nuanced enough thinking to support self-determining entities without justifying everything they do. In fact, it is the more psychologically healthy position in general to not see everything in binary terms.
It’s the colonizers/imperialists who do the marvel movie brain of 100% good or 100% evil based on affiliation and this comic accidentally expresses that well; it’s presented like they’re making a point about racism, but in reality, they’re just illustrating how as soon as skin color enters the picture, they (the creator) can’t help themself but depict black people in a negative light. Worse still, as is common in racist depictions, the black person in the comic is nothing more than a caricature of the white person’s fantasy. They don’t even get the agency of a spoken line! Even in their attempt to paint black people as villains who are using their agency to be villains, they won’t even place them above “background actor”.
