Why are posts that expressing support and wish towards Monero’s proliferating adoption getting some downvote-bombings in here? Examples:

or this one:

Just started the skepticism thread, and there is an instant -1 downvote on that.

wtf is this? Are we getting brigaded by grudgeful bitfags? Is it the overly-sensitive leftist fediverse dwellers that can’t stand the words like “shock-troops” or “the final solution”? What the hell.

Random guy with no affiliation to crypto and only a vague understanding of monero from another instance here, who saw the post on /all.

Most people stumbling over posts like this probably see yet another shady cryptocurrency and aren’t interested or even actively dislike it, resulting in downvotes. Calling people “grudgeful bitfags” and “overly-sensitive leftist fediverse dwellers” probably doesn’t help all that much either, neither do comments that attribute a general disinterest to a “very successful psyop by the CIA to make crypto look like a scam”.

Your post here contains a homophobic slur.

    “Shock troops” implies actual violence.

“the final solution” implies violence, genocide, and antisemitism.

Your first link goes to a post suggesting that people put pro-Monero messages inside new books at bookstores. Most people would perceive this as vandalism, and possibly as advertising that they don’t care for.

If you want to promote Monero on Lemmy, to start, you will need to stop being homophobic and antisemitic, and stop promoting violent themes.

Try making a message based on positivity. Compared to paying with a credit card, where I have the right to make a chargeback in many situations, what benefits are there to paying in Monero?

fag can be an offensive term, as its used as a derisive term for homosexuals.

When we are promoting monero for people to use, we should not EXCLUDE ANYONE intentionally or otherwise.

I’d appreciate it if you could use a different term

Are we getting brigaded by grudgeful bitfags?

    haters/misanthropes/anti-crypto fascists are good alternatives

i.e. Are we getting brigaded by grudgeful bitcoin maxis?

From a purely strategic perspective, if you want businesses to adopt digital cash, you have to use language that businesses are not afraid to be associated with.

Monero is independent to the traditional financial system. Not being a second layer solution to them as Bitcoin or Ethereum.

      @CaptainKickass@lemmy.world @jasep@lemmy.world @Fapper_McFapper@lemm.ee

Did you even read the comment before down voting? avoiding exclusive language is a good thing for all of lemmy

I realize you came to this post and down voted every comment, so maybe you were caught by the rhythm.

Though on reflection I suppose you could be bots, but if you are human, I really want to see your defense of calling people slurs on lemmy, please respond with words

Even if Lemmy is open for instances for freedom of speech monero.town still fits the “we play nice here avoid some speech”. And this criticisms and downvote brigade I have seen it in X and Nostr too. Glowies, crypto-haters and maxis are already lurking here.

The good thing of Lemmy is there is no karma bs.

    1. Do not give much attention to downvotes. There are many crypto haters over the network who will use their chance to downvote if they see a non-negative crypto related post.

    2. r/Monero is a place of tribalistic circlejerk. I downvote promotional, tribalist or maximalist posts while upvote good informational and technical posts, news, etc.

Hi I’m a normie with money to burn and I love supporting whatever the fuck bird brained cumcoin you wanna throw at me. Why do you fuckwhits use phrases like shock-troop and final solution if you want honest straight-edge folks like me to invest?

Are ya maybe secretly fascists? Or is it this weird problem where the projects morals are in the right place but you just can’t shake all these Nazi terms and imagery cuz the community abides it and feels very strongly about it?

I know this is your instance so I expect a ban. I hope this prompts at least a bit of discussion in your community amongst the wise and learned. What the fuck is wrong with you snivelling little Nazi shits that you can’t even keep your piss out of your advertising?

Because no normie wants to be a part of this thing when people like… that are and have often been the face of your little movement since the “Satoshi Nakamoto just saved mankind” days. Disgusting.

    Are you stupid?

Btw no I’m not one of your downvoters but I would if I could ;)

@muntedcrocodile @k4r4b3y The reason crypto in general is considered scammy is because BTC, ETH, and most others are simply not useful as currencies, due to LIMITATIONS OF DESIGN. Such as hardcoded blocksize, block transparency, and more.

Right from the beginning, people doubled down on their investments selling flimsy alternative theories than the simple design goal of “Internet cash”

AFAICT, only one serious project has had the engineering focus to make design changes as needed. XMR is money
