I dunno, I’m just spit balling here, but when Google drops you from their stupid YouTube rewind videos because you said a bunch of N bombs, maybe you should just go away. I’ve used Linux as my primary OS since 1999, and my kids, aged 9 and 12 have only ever used Linux. But I’m just offering that even though he promoted Linux we might not praise him for that. I personally think he sucks, have never followed what he’s doing, but because he’s so popular his misdeeds sometimes come across my news feed.

Defending the use of racial slurs as swear words definitely doesn’t make you look like a weird fucking loser man, keep it up. You’re fighting the good fight.

Trying to hammer on a one time thing from a decade ago which the person has apologized for and has not reoffended is awesome. You are saving humanity.

Except PewDiePie is not that. Sure he apologized for saying the N word hard-r. But then proceeded to create a whole racist campaign against India in the name of fighting the corpo T-Series where he made one of the most racist songs I’ve ever heard.

Then there’s the whole antisemitic Fiverr thing where if he genuinely did it to prove that any heinous shit could happen there, he still didn’t need to do it that way.

Then there’s Musk and Shapiro in his channel.

Then there’s the Nazis in his audience.

Then you have the bunch of incel and machist memes he reacted and laughed too constantly in his channel.

Then you have that he has gone on record saying more than once that his favorite author is the Japanese fascist Yukio Mishima.

And to top it all off you have the Christchurch shooter shouting him out.

PewDiePie has been a right wing fucker that has eased a shit ton of young people into the alt-right pipeline for years. The fact that people keep excusing him is just fucked up to no end.

Watch the video The PewDiePiepeline on YouTube.

Thanks for the thorough background here, because I think most people (including myself) who just ignored him this whole time aren’t seeing this whole picture.

Like the comments above, they’re seeing what looks like a petty morality crusade years after a guy who makes stupid videos let a bad word slip, which, yeah, looks ridiculous out of context.

PewDiePie has been a right wing fucker that has eased a shit ton of young people into the alt-right pipeline for years.

Why am I not surprised, that this world’s definition of success always seems to go hand-in-hand with bigoted fascism?

It’s also a very chicken-or-egg question I think. I’m genuinely curious: Do internet/podcast/streamer celebrities get their status from already being like this, and signaling the fashy bros club that they’re ready to join the “in group” , or do they get pulled and influenced into that circle because they innocently found success from stupid videos?

Is social media influencing this directly via an algorithm that simply draws the connection between right-wing extremist ideals and capital wealth?

I feel so tragically for young folks. So much of anything pulling for their attention anymore is a targeted psy-op to “pipeline” them into some kind of zealotous soldier or another.

The Internet used to be about cats and gaming used to be a hobby divorced from political office except when someone tried to argue they “cause violence” every few years.

    Geeez these comments guys…

So even if you like or dislike pewdiepie. I think him showing of Linux is good. Getting more people to realize Linux exist and is a viable alternative to Windows or Mac is a good thing.

        Both can be true!

I think we need to avoid the monkey-brain tendency to want to assign tribalistic moral judgement tags based on OS usage. Rotten folks can use Linux and Windows as much as anybody else.

High profile usage of Linux? Neat! By that guy? Bummer. Such is the duality of free choice. =\

I agree. As more regular people use Linux, it will become more obvious who the gatekeeping losers are and why they should be routinely ignored.

“Think different” to me is “don’t let the people chronically on internet forums dictate your every move.”

Lol the pirate party in the country I’m from was co opted by Nazis

Edit: Why would any one downvote this lol it’s factually true. I’m not saying Pewdipie is a nazi, I’m just stating the facts that the pirate party was co opted by Nazis in the country I’m from and basically had to disband.

Well in the post the OP stated that Pewdiepie was a supporter of the pirate party as if this negated any claims to him being right wing. I just wanted to point out that the pirate party can have right wing elements as was the case here.

Edit I’m not trying to be a dick but what did adding that statement at the bottom of the post have to do with pewdiepie using Linux?

Does Hyprland work well for gaming compared to KDE? Can it do HDR, VRR and so on?

Always wanted to try a tiling WM but was afraid of losing features.

Never tried hyperland, but if you want tiling, I think COSMIC is a very user friendly tiling de. I don’t think they do HDR yet though, but it is still in alpha.

Awesome! I hope he will help share this with more folks, the friends who I’ve talked into finally giving modern non-Ubuntu Linux a shot love it, but there’s a lot of work to get over the damaged image created by the countless “linux user installing a browser” memes. I’m sure someone with his reach can help though :)

Cool setup. I used to customise my setup long back but this gave me some inspiration to try again
