Yes, I’ve been into Bill Laswell for ages (Oscillations 1996). I’m not suggesting dnb was new. I’m saying that it was beginning to look like it was gonna blow up and I’d have a ton of fun going to lots of great dnb parties, like Planet of the Drums used to be. Source: also old former raver.
I’ll never forget the my second grade teacher, Mrs Tilley, taught us the mnemonic “you only want one desert and two desserts.”
Thanks, ma’am. It serves me still.
I can prove this scientifically in that I am employed in tech and a lot of my friends are too.
They got a college education for about $1000 in today money, bought property and homes for $20k today money, and are clinging to power rather than letting anyone younger have a seat at the table. They were born on third base and think they hit a triple. Every other generation is too “lazy” to do what they did, so it must be correct that they hold onto power because we’d just fuck it all up.
The world got handed to them in post-WWII USA while Europe and Asia were rebuilding and they fail to recognize that they were born into an unprecedented situation that is unlikely to repeat. That’s why they’re selfish assholes.
Damn, Arizona and Utah. What happened to you?
until Google turned up and everyone started using that.
My older brother, who was a graduated CS major, turned me on to it way before anyone else had heard of it. He was also the first person to introduce me to the existence of Java (not script) when he brought a book home for the holidays some years before that.
I mostly agree with the above take. Except people were talking about this stuff on the news a lot. It was one of the interesting stories of the time. As well as Y2K and the increased traffic in Silicon Valley.
The big difference (to me) is that the public is, I think, more aware in that you can see it on your daily carry devices and tell that there’s something neat there, sorta, but not enough to want it. Back then it was stuff other people were doing while only a fraction (I couldn’t tell you how many) people were already online. Not that I think most of the public is using AI, but they know it’s an option on a device (or more) that they already have as opposed to being excluded.
Both are colossal wastes of capital.
This one made me laugh.
I was at a club and persuaded a young lady who didn’t want to dance to change her mind. As I’m leading her by both hands, walking backwards, she asked how I “got to be so smooth?” (something no other woman has ever asked me). “Well, I grew up with two older…” backwards over a chair.
It actually probably helped me out because I jumped up and laughed at myself with zero embarrassment, which means we were both laughing about it.
Young people love the platform. Was it fishy when there were Luigi memes? Regardless of how much the state is involved with the app, it’s popular.
Oh look, I must be an agent for the CCP cause I’m suggesting there’s a legitimate reason for memes.
This is the most literate take on the issue that I’ve seen.
It’s called docking.
Adding to the transcription because watering down the point does no service to anyone who can’t actually read it, it says:
People born in the 50’s have lived in 7 decades, 2 centuries & 2 millenniums. We had the best music, fastest cars, Drive-in theaters, soda fountains & happy days. And we are not even that old yet, we’re just racist
And yes, huge swaths of them are racist. There are also racists in their 20s (Nick Fuentes), but they are far more common in older generations, the south, rural areas, etc. These are facts.
So, what you’re telling me is that every time I’ve ever eaten pussy I fucked up because none of them used Listerated Pepsin Gum? Gdi.
The genocide takes a pause so that the genociders can catch their breath. This doesn’t mean the genocide has ended.
This is somewhat off topic, but it is actually related to knowledge, income, and returns.
I’m telling you from experience, make enough money to live comfortably and stop when you get there. If at all possible, don’t have a long commute. Don’t have a prestige job. Don’t have a position that requires OT or sprints. I deescalated my role to something more banal and my happiness went way up.
You’re likely not in a position to do that at 20, but when you get somewhat into a career and life sucks and you hate your work and you want to die, start looking for something that pays less but also doesn’t suck the life out of you.
The drum and bass scene seemed like it was just about to take off and then fucking dubstep happened. Sigh…
I think it’s actually “deinver.”
I hate human suffering, but Texas is a shit hole with Abbot and Paxton making the world the worst place they can. If those two breathe bad air, maybe it will end their time on the scene a little bit sooner.
I don’t understand how something such as you’re asking would be a reverse warrant canary? Canaries get pulled as a way of broadcasting something without breaking a court order not to talk about it. How would you do a reverse of that by posting something that breaks the rules or violates norms?
Gotta love those good 'ole boys in souther politics and law enforcement. They sure know how to grift.
