It could be argued that the same is true of the American civil war.

“Charlie Kirk proven wrong.”
When Trump gave his little ramble at the signing, he literally blamed the losses on the country going “wokie” and renaming the war department.
Consensual means we have no basis for demanding he stand trial for rape. Squeaking past that bar doesn’t say anything good about his moral character. He should not have been impeached, but he should have been run out of the Democratic party on a rail.
Tinidril@midwest.socialto Reddit@lemmy.world•I didn't think it was possible to sum up reddit with a single image, but...English1·14 天前Hey, they’re just asking questions!
Science is a subdiscipline of philosophy.
Carbon is an amazingly flexible element that gets bound up with lots of other elements. Oxygen is also incredibly reactive and makes up almost half the mass of the Earth’s crust. Add in all the heat down there for activation energy, and it starts to make sense. I’m no expert though.
Oh yeah, I’ll bet you could do what she does even better if you had rich parents. /s

I think that makes it a bit more plausible.
I may let him.
Newton had massive social adjustment issues and deep religious convictions. I’m not so sure he would react well to the modern world.

It’s not an uncommon occurrence in training. I saw one guy do it during a locker inspection and whack his head hard on a bench on the way down. The fall itself is the real danger.
The next human female was several hundred kilometers away…
…and probably more cold than “hot”.
Tinidril@midwest.socialto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•A growing number of americans don't read newspapers. They get their news from online influencers. The right dominates the online ecosystem.English1·1 个月前Oh, there is plenty of infighting, but putting it on the left is nonsense. If the establishment fought the right as hard as they fight the left, it would be Democrats running the whole government.

Tinidril@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Steam payment headaches grow as PayPal is no longer usable for much of the world: Valve hopes to bring it back in the future, 'but the timeline is uncertain'English6·1 个月前What payment terminals? They could go years just being an online credit card. Hell, initially it wouldn’t be very different from any company that bills their customers. Start it as a Steam only thing, then add select partners one at a time. It doesn’t have to be in your grocery store on day one, or ever really. Fraud detection is easy when you can just yank the game back. Sears couldn’t do that when you bought a washing machine. I worked in banking infosec and I have no idea what “digital compliance” means in this context. The hardest compliance standards in this space are PCI, and those are defined and enforced on clients by the payment card industry itself.
Valves internal structure wouldn’t scale to that size either
Which is why I specifically said it would be run as a subsidiary.
and they have no experience running a company of the size that would be required in a different structure.
Gosh, where on Earth could they find people with experience running a company that would look like 99% of the companies in existence?
You’re just throwing shit on the wall and hoping something sticks. You could neigh say anything, and nothing in the world would ever be accomplished.

Tinidril@midwest.socialto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•A growing number of americans don't read newspapers. They get their news from online influencers. The right dominates the online ecosystem.English5·1 个月前My only purity test is that I will never support anyone ignorant or insincere enough to talk about “purity tests”.
“Purity tests” is a thought terminating cliche created by Democratic consultants to shut down legitimate dialog with the left. If the Democratic establishment didn’t have purity tests of their own, then whence “Anybody but Bernie”. Maybe try grappling with what those purity tests look like.
It’s not that easy though. We are at the conclusion of a decades long campaign to poison not just our government and politics, but our society as well. Take out every fascist tonight, and we still have to contend with the fact that, as a people, we are no longer capable of operating a democracy. Healing the divides and fixing generations of indoctrination takes time we don’t have.
I’m not saying there is no hope, but we have to sober about the tasks ahead of us if this country is ever going to heal.
