No spoilers here because almost none of what I’m about to say is mentioned in the game itself.

Harry is a magpie and potentially the next Innocence, which is why the moralist spirit quest ending is what it is. It’s implied that the moralintern is killing magpies as a means of maintaining the status quo at all costs. But a lot of Harry’s premonitions about the future are so dark because 25 years following the events of Disco Elysium, a nuclear bomb is set off in Revachol. Apocalypse cop, firewalker, etc could all be a reference to this novelty that he’s channeling from a future where everything is destroyed.
so is this in the book, or…?
The nuke is for sure, don’t know about the rest of it.
Wait what, I thought DE was a politics/mystery game, what do you mean there’s eldritch lore??
It’s mostly a mystery game, the politics are more of a backdrop. But the entire thing takes place in a small oasis of the world outside of which is nothing but a dense eldritch horror fog.
Wow… I was already intending to finish the game, but now I’m even more intrigued!
it’s just some fog that makes you forget things what’s the problem
well it also makes you remeber things that aren’t your memories and there’s some kind of extra-dimensional mold living in it, but at least it also gives a heartfelt fuck you to maths
Fog that makes reality forget itself
Perfect! Give me 3 to go, there’s some stuff I wanna forget
