So, looking for an RPG that is NOT TURN BASED, and action oriented in its combat. I want to grind and watch number go up, but want the combat to be more hands on than turn based.
Last time I asked, I settled on Xenoblade Chronicles. I got to almost level 40 in it, then I lost 6 hours of progress cause of a save snafu, and I dont feel like going back to it.
After that I switched to Tales of Symphonia at yalls recommendation. I like the combat, but DAMN is it hard, and there is no tutorial at all for any finer points.
What other games might scratch my itch? Ill be playing on a Retroid 5, so it’ll be emulated. That said, it can do a lot of switch games pretty well, so if its newer and on switch, I can try it!
For Clarity: Ps2 generation and earlier, OR on the switch. 3DS and Vita are cool too.

What does the J in JRPG mean here in terms of genre? Obviously I know it stands for “Japanese,” but usually I associate JRPGs with being turn-based like Dragon Quest, FF, etc. and I assume you aren’t saying you want it to specifically be from Japan.
Anyway, you might want to check out Kingdom Hearts, depending on how you feel about Disney.
I dunno, last time I asked for a game like this I got told action jrpg is the style ¯_(ツ)_/¯
That’s fair. I might be out of touch but I’d usually just call them action RPGs, and you’ve certainly gotten recommendations here that I really wouldn’t call JRPGs. At this point I think the only reason Silksong isn’t a “JRPG” is the lack of experience points or other near analogue. At one point, titles like Dark Souls and Devil May Cry (which you also might want to check out, probably starting from 3 if possible) were called “character action games”.
