Yet you still only get a finite note taking area. Surely the topologists can do better.

A professor on mastodon fixed that by requiring sheets be orientable.

If the rules don’t specify the size of the paper or the font size there’s easier ways to fit more content but great idea :D

I just checked it with red/blue glasses and for me it’s still barely readable that way. But also a nice Idea. :D

Somebody in my college stats class did this. Professor thought it was too hilarious not to let him roll with it

Because in those classes it doesn’t matter. I don’t care if you use an entire textbook, other than if everyone did this they would just fail. The page of notes is a comfort blanket. It won’t help you if you didn’t study.

This is incidentally also the most important lesson to learn as an undergrad.

The sheet of notes is largely a method professors use to GET students to study. It’s an exercise in reviewing and summarizing the material in a way that makes sense to you.

Precisely. It is actually very simple - I will literally show you the test on the board over the span of the semester. I literally say this on day one. If you take notes every class, you will find the exams easy. If you also do the homework, they will be almost trivial.

Still, almost half the people still manage to fail. And it’s weirdly always the people I never see until the last week of the semester.

That’s the day they’ll finally admit that the rule forbidding dividing by zero was just because they wanted to keep free energy from us

Undergraduates not understanding that it’s way easier to make the test hard enough that the crib sheet doesn’t matter and just giving them grades based on how much I like their shoes.

There’s still two sides… And you can only use one.

What I did in school was sharpen my mechanical pencil lead and write so small you couldn’t even see it unless you had perfect eye sight and were looking at it from 3 inches away. I could write letters about 0.2mm in size.

There are not two sides, they are the same one side. Not super clear from the picture, but there is a twist that connects the “front” of one side to the “back” of the other .
