Oh yeah anytime I ask him (that is @davel@lemmy.ml, I know you read these but don’t have the balls to reply) I get banned from the communities he’s a mod on, for like 24 hours.

Apparently it’s “stalking” to name a user. Pathetic idiot, like everyone else like him. I just saw a very similar account from .ml (same sort of pseudopolite propaganda). Like Diva@lemmy.ml or something. You’ll also note how the like to gave pronouns in their nicks, because they think theyre being sly, thinking people’s would read it and go “well Russians arent into saying what their pronouns are, must be a Westerner”.

One thing they don’t realise is that people don’t consider themselves “Westerners” in the “West”.

    They’re just all around pathetic.

Yes I have seen this tactic used before. They get triggered when factuly incorrect wall post have holes pocked by easily verifiable facts.

The dedication to shilling Russia is unwavering. But what would make an adult person do this outside of being paid?

I keep wondering the same thing. Well, first off, there are actually Russian getting paid for that. We shouldn’t pretend professionally disinformation accounts don’t exist. Secondly, perhaps they’re not adults?

I just wonder what kind of a moron you have to be to be able to understand the conversation and everything online, but still be pro-Russian.

        Like… why?

MICE - Money, Ideology, Coercion, Ego. Money doesn’t necessarily mean being a paid shill, BTW - Alex Jones from InfoWars makes his money selling supplements, for instance.

I don’t think they’re being coerced or making money from their audience, so Ideology or Ego.

Why the fuck does lemmy.world federate with lemmy.ml?

Its clearly a disinfo instance if the instance admin is a literal pro-Russian account. I checked. He’s currently arguing that Ukrainians are commuting genocide on Russia by defending against the Russian invasion, while denying Uighur genocide is a thing.

        Sick bastard

Yeah it’s a pretty big L for the instance and Lemmy as a whole from a growth perspective. the devs of Lemmy are admins of .ml, and lemmygrad.

You can block instances at least now which is an alright solution, but you can still their comments on other instances

Just like I challenge @davel@lemmy.ml. Because he will never be able to address me in this conversation.

I don’t block instances, Skyler. Instances block me.

I mean, with all due respect, tagging someone specifically to pick a fight with them where they weren’t involved is pretty rude. Even if the person is a dickhead.

        where they weren’t involved

He was. Several times. I never “stalked” him in the slightest. With all due respect, lying through your teeth that you’re not pro-Russian while actively posting pro-Russian propaganda and then having a tantrum and banning anyone who notes you’re being irrational is pretty rude.

This notion of politeness in this way, in the context of actual disinformation, doesn’t really work. You can’t expect me to be polite to someone who advocates for crimes against humanity, can you?

If I mention his nickname once a month when the topic of disinformation actors on his specific instance comes up?

No, I’m not. That is not harassment in any way. I don’t stalk his profile, I don’t follow his posts or comments. I just know of him.

Mentioning a username does not harassment constitute.

What do you think forums are for?

I really don’t care whether yo… he blocks me, as he doesn’t engage in good faith debate, but pretend to. He pretends to be an American, denies the existence of Russian propaganda, says that Ukraine is committing a genocide bt defending against the Russian invasion, and very often inserts himself into discussions of American politics, as an American.

One of the clearest Russian trolls I’ve ever seen. I don’t care what he thinks of me, personally. I care about fighting disinformation. You don’t…?

The point isn’t to argue I think, it’s to inform others that he’s not credible (and he’s free to ‘defend’ himself via argument of course).

That’s your right. But yeah I don’t think tagging somebody who is. Being discussed is harassment. It is not direct. Other person can ignore or block.

People need to keep the record straight tho. They have a right to their shilling, we have a right to document that we disagree and provide our side of the story.

Whole point of censorship is not permit the other side to respond.
